The most surprising game was the first loss of Metapan (5-1) on the court of fifth ranked Santa Tecla on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by Santa Tecla 83-81. Dominican Xavier dela Rosa (196-1991) had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Sammy Colmenero (185-1992, college: SF State) chipped in 25 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Santa Tecla (4-2) moved-up to fourth place. Metapan at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with San Salvador. Santa Tecla are looking forward to face league's second-placed San Salvador on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Metapan will have a break next round.
Very important is a home loss of first ranked Salvadorenos (4-1) against sixth ranked Brujos (3-2) on Thursday night. Host Salvadorenos were defeated by Brujos in San Salvador 84-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Salvadorenos. Bahamas forward KJ Reckley (201, college: Niagara) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Brent Kelly supported him with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Even 32 points by guard Diego Minero (187-2007) did not help to save the game for Salvadorenos. Brujos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with A.Lobos. Salvadorenos at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Brujos will play against Santiagueno (#7) in Usultan in the next round. Salvadorenos will play on the road against Ahuachapan (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.

The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Santa Ana, where they outplayed Santa Ana (0-6) 101-75 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Kadeim Jones who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Daylon Potts who recorded 23 points, 26 rebounds and 9 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ahuachapan (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. It was Santa Ana's sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost.
